Better Dads is an international fathering skills organization dedicated to helping people in the community by offering education in areas such as fathering, parenting, mentoring boys, single moms raising boys, healthy masculinity, and family relationships. We believe that good fathers and good men make a difference in any culture.
However, we recognize that people who have grown up without a positive male influence in their lives do not understand how to pass that legacy on to the next generation. Foundationally, we believe changes will happen through promoting and championing responsible fatherhood in men, growing boys to become good husbands and fathers, and providing positive male role models and mentors for fatherless boys.
Better Dads was founded by popular author and speaker, Rick Johnson, in 2001 in response to the urgent need to empower men to lead and serve in their families and communities.
Rick’s books quickly expanded his ministry to include influencing the whole family with life-changing insights for men and women on parenting, marriage, and personal growth. Special programs include: Standing Tall—a mentoring program for fatherless boys; Foundations for Life—a free, three-day camp for single moms and their children; and Books for Soldiers—a program which provides free books for soldiers deployed around the world, especially those in combat areas.
Rick also speaks in prisons around the country as well as being a popular speaker at parenting and marriage conferences, and men’s retreats around the US and Canada.
