Character That Counts
Character that Counts (CTC) was born out of a passion by Rod Handley to communicate the power of accountability in developing godly character and integrity in men’s and women’s lives. This passion was the motivating force behind Rod’s step of faith in creating the organization in July 2000. CTC provides resources/books for individual growth and motivates and inspires people through oral presentations, seminars, workshops and conferences. Based in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, CTC is reaching the nation.
Rod has written 19 books, including “Character that Counts: Who’s Counting Yours?” which is a book that details how to do accountability in a practical way and it includes a 17-session Bible Study that can be done with a small group, your spouse and/or as an individual. Rod’s athletic background as a college football player and his love for sports of all kinds, including a 15 years serving on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes staff, gives him great insights to a series of books that he has authored specifically for athletes and coaches. This includes, “Team Studies on Character, Volumes 1-7”; “GameChanger”; “In the Zone”; “Relentless”; “Called to Coach” and “Called to Compete.” Another great resource to help train and disciple men is “Life in View of Eternity” which teaches over 80 different character qualities in a format similar to the “Experiencing God” book.
Over the last 13 years, Rod has averaged over 250 talks annually to a variety of Christian and secular audiences, including a number of churches, public/private schools, businesses/corporations and professional/collegiate/high school sports teams. Rod has shared at hundreds of chapel services for NFL, NBA and MLB teams over the past 25 years and has served as the team chaplain for the Kansas City Royals and the Seattle SuperSonics. Rod is also a regular keynote/workshop leader for the Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conferences held nationwide.
On Rod’s staff includes Greg Griffin (oversees our TGIW “Teaching God’s Infinite Wisdom” discpleship ministry) and Bill Stutz (a certified life coach) and 40 Associate Staff members all across America. Character that Counts has been a long-time member and financial supporter of NCMM.
